The Whangarei Theatre Company is pleased to announce further shows for 2008...
Pamela Black and Ajay Fryer are to direct the murder-mystery play "I'll Be Back Before Midnight" scheduled to run at the Riverbank Centre from 22nd August until 6th September 2008. Written by Peter Colley, the play is set in an old farmhouse. This has been rented by Greg, an archaeologist in his 30s, to provide a place in the country where his wife Jan can recover from a nervous breakdown while he continues to work at a nearby dig. The farm is owned by George, now in his late 40s, who's quite a character. When he tells them of the terrible murder that took place in the farm, and the ghost that reputedly stalks the night, Jan's imagination goes into overdrive. Matters worsen following the arrival of Laura, Greg's beautiful, but very manipulative, sister. Soon Jan finds herself tormented by strange noises at night, coupled with visions of a vengeful ghost. Is she having another breakdown? Is someone trying to drive her mad? When she tries to defend herself against the apparition, events take an unexpected turn in a night of unimaginable suspense.
The Auditions for this were held at the Riverbank Centre on Saturday 7th June from 11am to 4pm, and the cast selected. If you would like to help with off-stage aspects of the show please contact us.
The 'adult' pantomime "Robin the Hood", directed by Marjorie Bowdler, will take place from 14th November - 6th December 2008. This could be your ideal Christmas party night - get a group together for dinner and the show in our Hatea Room theatre. More details will be available by October, and tickets available via Whangarei Suit Hire.
If you are interested in Directing a show, or have suggestions for any shows you would like to see produced by the Whangarei Theatre Company, please do not hesitate to contact the Executive Committee.
